Chuku Okorie, MD, MPH

  • Anatomy Professor

Biography

I moved to the United States about ten years ago. While in Nigeria, I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Anatomy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Education, and a medical degree (MB BCh) from the University of Calabar. I practiced medicine in a rural health hospital before opting for residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

While in the residency program, I got a teaching job at Saint George’s University (SGU), Grenada, to teach Anatomical Science courses. Because of my interest in teaching, I accepted the offer and proceeded to SGU, Grenada. There, I taught Anatomy, Histology, Neuroanatomy, and Embryology. I obtained a Master’s in Public Health from Saint George’s University, Grenada, while teaching there.

Later, I joined Saint James School of Medicine, Anguilla, where I taught Anatomy, Histology, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics until I moved to the United States. In the United States, I was appointed Adjunct Faculty at Essex County College, NJ, where I taught Anatomy and Physiology and other Biology courses. I also taught Pathophysiology and Medical Terminology as an Adjunct Professor at Union College of Union County, NJ.

I have co-authored many scientific papers published in reputable journals. I am honored to join the team in developing the curriculum for the proposed D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine seeking accreditation. I am very passionate about education and imparting knowledge to others. I am glad that D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine has given me yet another opportunity to help in training medical professionals.

Besides my professional career, I love soccer and basketball.
