Matthew Hamilton, EdD, ATC

Biography

Dr. Hamilton, Ed.D., A.T.C. is an Associate Professor in the Exercise and Sports Studies program. He holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Health Policy and Health Education from D'Youville University, with a dissertation on "Physical activity feedback and motivation in undergraduate college students." He has also earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Health and Human Performance from Canisius University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Athletic Training (Cum Laude) from the State University of New York at Cortland. Dr. Hamilton has an extensive background in education and has been involved in various roles at D'Youville University. He has taught a range of courses related to athletic injuries, biomechanics, exercise prescription, and medical terminology. Dr. Hamilton has been actively involved in research and has published in academic journals, primarily focusing on topics related to sports injuries, physical activity feedback, and motivation. He has also been a reviewer for academic journals in the fields of athletic training and sports health care. In addition to his academic and research work, Dr. Hamilton has been involved in community outreach and volunteer activities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lake View Athletics and mentoring students interested in health care professions. He holds various certifications and memberships, including being a certified Athletic Trainer (NATABOC) and a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). Dr. Hamilton is also involved in First Aid and CPR instruction, as well as being a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer.
