D’Youville Nursing Professor to Receive Distinguished Alumna Award

Lauraine A. Neal, an advocate for HIV I AIDS awareness and education will be honored at the ”Celebrate ECC" gala.

Buffalo, New York – February 03, 2016 – Lauraine A. Neal, assistant professor of nursing at D'Youville, will be honored at the annual "Celebrate ECC" gala on March 10 where she will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award along with other notable graduates of Erie Community College. It will be held at the ECC City Campus Atrium at 121 Ellicott Street in Buffalo from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The event will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. before the dinner, prepared and served by ECC's Culinary Atts and Hotel Restaurant Management students is served. The award presentation begins at 7:15 p.m. Neal earned.an AAS in Medical Record Technology from SUNY Alfred and her AAS in nursing from ECC. She completed both her BSN and MS in Nursing Education at Daemen College and her Ph.D. in Public Health is pending at Walden University.

She is a member of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, Sigma Theta Tau & Nu Member Chapters, the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators and received the Red Ribbon HIV Service Award in 2014.

Professor Neal joined D'Youville in 2007 and is also an adjunct RN Clinical Instructor at Trocaire College. She was a staff RN at Horizons Health Services Medical Unit and was Community Health Nurse HIV-AIDS at the former Episcopal Church Home. She serves on the boards of New Life Residential Center, Grupo Ministerial, and Alianza Latina She is currently involved in a number of research projects and is active in HIV I AIDS awareness and education in the community.
