D'Youville Places Four on AMCC Men's Volleyball All-Conference Team
Buffalo, New York – April 3, 2012 – The D'Youville College men's volleyball team placed four on the all-conference list when the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released their award winners today.
Selected to the First-Team were third-year players Chris Temple (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) and Todd Potter (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East).
Playing at right-side hitter, the six-foot five Temple is averaging a team-high 3.00 kills per set played and having a career-high year in blocking averaging 0.86 per set to go with 1.54 digs per set.
"It was a great rebound season for Chris after his sophomore campaign," said D'Youville Head coach John Hutton. "He really was a force offensively at a number of different areas on the floor."
Potter is having his best season as a Spartan. The six-foot six middle hitter is averaging a career-high 2.00 kills and 0.87 blocks per set.
"Todd had really worked to become one of the premiere players at his position in the region," said Hutton. "His progress from his freshman year to now has been amazing."
Named to the AMCC second-team were juniors Jay Senozetnik (Eden, NY/Eden) and Chris Krueger (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg).
Senozetnik leads the team in assists (6.95 per set) and digs (1.97) and has played at both the setter and outside hitter positions this season.
Krueger moved from outside to middle hitter this season and leads the Spartan's with career-high totals in blocking (0.91 per set) and hitting percentage (.313).
"Jay brings so much to our team. His leadership and energy working in concert with his talent was the team's heartbeat this season," said Hutton. "Chris really thrived in the position changed and was such an important part of the makeup of our lineup."
D'Youville placed second in the AMCC Tournament after winning a tight five-set decision from Penn State Behrend in the first match before losing to Medaille in the championship match in three sets.
Chris Temple had a team-high 17 kills versus Penn State Behrend. Jay Senozetnik 53 assists, Todd Potter 14 kills and 7 blocks, and Chrus Krueger with 8 kills and 5 blocks.
D'Youville is currently 10-16 overall and finishes out the 2012 season with non-conference tilts April 3 at Lancaster Bible College and April 5 at Stevenson University (MD).
The all-conference team from the Spartan's other conference affiliation, the United Volleyball Conference, will be announced April 8.
