Buffalo, New York – April 26, 2012 – A presentation titled "Working Together - Across Different Generations" will be featured at the D'Youville Center for Professional Studies at the Innovation Center on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, 640 Ellicott Street on Tuesday, May 8.

Barbara Johnson, RNBC, MS, a consultant in generational workplace issues, will discuss why generational differences are wider today than ever before and how they create challenges for healthcare professionals and the workforce in general, in both direct care and management.

"Key areas impacted include communication, motivation, learning, recruitment, and retention of colleagues, clients and families," according to Johnson's presentation information.

"The presentation counts for two contact hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU) and is targeted toward anyone who works with people of different ages," according to Dr. Theresa A. Vallone, academic fieldwork coordinator in D'Youville's Occupational Therapy Department.

She and Dr. Michele Karnes co-own Learning Partners, which is a provider of CEUs and a co-sponsor of the event.

"Educators who teach students of all ages, healthcare providers who treat clients across the age spectrum, as well as case managers, home healthcare providers, insurance companies, senior center staff, physicians and anyone who works with different generations should attend," she says.

Health care is particularly impacted by generational issues, as there is a wide range of generation among healthcare providers as well as patients/clients, Johnson states.

The registration fee is $55.00 and the presentation is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A light dinner is included and parking is free.
