Saints Testing Center

The Saints Testing Center welcomes all D’Youville University students who need to take a make-up exam in the event of an excused absence. The Saints Testing Center provides a secure academic testing environment and promotes honesty and integrity in all testing procedures. This resource assists faculty members and students in the efficient rescheduling of exams but is intended for use only when students are unable to take exams with their regular class sessions. The Saints Testing Center should not be used as a substitute for attending and completing exams during scheduled class times.

Policies

In our effort to provide students and faculty with a flexible option for unavoidable conflicts, the following should be adhered to:

SAINTS TESTING CENTER POLICIES
  1. Exams are scheduled based on the availability of Testing Center staff. Walk-in proctoring services are not available.
  2. For planned absences, exams must be scheduled seven (7) days in advance of the requested exam date. For unplanned absences, exams must be scheduled three (3) days in advance of the requested exam date.  Exams must be scheduled for a day and time approved by the professor. Testing hours are from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
  3. Students should arrive at the Saints Testing Center in advance of the exam start time. Students arriving 20 minutes or more late for an exam must contact the professor to ask permission to take the exam.
  4. Students are responsible for keeping track of time during their exams and must leave the testing room at the end of their scheduled time, even if they have not finished the exam.
  5. Restroom breaks will not be permitted. Students are encouraged to use the restroom before beginning the exam.
  6. If a student would like to reschedule a scheduled exam, they must obtain written permission from their professor to do so.
  7. Due to the high volume of students using this service, we may not be able to honor requests during peak testing times such as finals week.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY
  • Students are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and honesty while completing course requirements and complying with DYU academic integrity policies.
  • No unauthorized materials will be allowed in the testing rooms. This includes all books, notes, calculators, and cell phones, as well as coats, hats, gloves, and blankets. All unauthorized materials must be placed in an available locker outside of the main testing room.
  • Any academic dishonesty incidents will be dealt with by the instructor and/or academic department responsible for the exam.

Before students enter the testing room, they will be asked to do the following:

  • show that they have nothing written on their arms
  • show that they are not wearing earbuds
  • show that there is nothing in their pockets
  • leave all coats, blankets, scarves, hats, etc. in their locker or with their backpack where the student employees sit
    • Head coverings: hajibs are allowed, hats are NOT allowed.
  • hand their phone and, if applicable, their smartwatch to a student employee to be placed in a secure cabinet.
FACULTY INFORMATION

Faculty should ensure they have exhausted all other options before having a student schedule a test in the Saints Testing Center, such as:

  • Having Graduate Assistants or Teaching Assistants proctor the exam
  • Using HonorLock to proctor exams in a separate location

Exams will be scheduled based on the availability of Testing Center staff. Walk-in proctoring services will not be available. The Saints Testing Center does not provide live proctors; however, the testing rooms are equipped with 24-hour video surveillance cameras to ensure academic integrity. Due to the high volume of students using this service, we may not be able to honor requests during peak testing times such as finals week.

Please note: All current policies and procedures regarding students who receive testing accommodations through the Office of Accessibility Resources will remain in place and unchanged.
