D'Youville Launches New Marketing Degree

D’Youville will expand their business offerings to include a Bachelor of Science in Marketing beginning in Spring 2020. This new program will build on the Business Department’s programs which combine cutting-edge theory and practical knowledge.

Students will be required to complete two internships totaling 180 hours so they will graduate with industry relationships and hands-on experience. Currently students in the Business Department are placed with the top companies in the region: Rich Products, Delaware North, M&T Bank, HSBC Bank, Fisher Price, Marriott, Geico, and National Grid.

"My internships have presented me with so many opportunities to challenge myself and grow. I was able to assist with new opportunities on current and potential projects, connecting the sales teams with the customers, and help bring new products to market," said Gillian Wittig ‘20.

“A BS in Marketing from D’Youville will prepare students for success in a fast-growing industry with high income earning potential.” said Arup Sen, PhD, professor in the School of Business. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), demand for Market Research Analysts is expected to grow by 20% next year and the median pay in 2018 for Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Managers was $132,620.

The marketing program will teach students to understand consumer needs and wants, identify target markets, and develop strategies to satisfy the customer needs. Graduates can pursue many different careers such as marketing management, product development, brand management, marketing research, advertising, and professional selling. In addition, with a D’Youville marketing degree a student can pursue higher education degrees such as MBA, Master of Studies in Law, and Master’s in Marketing.
