D'Youville University's Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program is accredited by The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®). ACEND® is the accrediting agency for education programs preparing students for careers as registered dietitian nutritionists.

ACEND® serves and protects students and the public by assuring the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs. ACEND® is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education a Title IV gatekeeper.

Annual Physical Exam & Immunizations

Applicants should review the D’Youville Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program policy regardingCOVID-19 vaccinations and other health requirements. Students enrolled in the Coordinated Program must provide evidence of annual physical examination, immunizations, and vaccinations as required by the program and supervised practice facilities. Students must meet program and supervised practice facility health requirements, otherwise students may not be able to complete D’Youville’s Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program.

Mission Statement for the Coordinated Program 

Recognizing the role of the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) as the nutrition expert and the key role that nutrition plays in health and well-being, the Coordinated Program strives to serve the community by providing students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to meet the challenges of the diverse and changing field of dietetics. Our intent is to prepare entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists who will become leaders in their field and will fulfill prominent and varied professional roles. 

The Coordinated Program supports the principles of academic excellence, service to others, and lifelong learning by fostering the student’s professional and personal growth within a broad range of educational and practical experiences.

The D’Youville Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics utilizes the integrated experiential learning model by combining innovative classroom experiences with diverse supervised practice opportunities. We strive to create an equitable and inclusive teaching and learning environment to support student academic success, professional development, and personal growth.

Vision Statement for Nutrition and Dietetics Department 

The D’Youville University Nutrition and Dietetics Department will serve as a leader in influencing wellness and nutrition care for individuals and communities by preparing dietitians who are committed to health promotion through nutrition. 

These practitioners will remain leaders in their field through their dedication to lifelong learning in the pursuit of excellence in practice. 

Goals and Objectives of the Coordinated Program

Goal 1

Prepare graduates who are competent for entry-level practice as Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and obtain employment in a variety of nutrition- and dietetics-related positions.

Objectives

1. At least 80% of program students complete program/degree requirements within 3 years (150% of the program length).
2. 80% of program graduates take the CDR dietitian credentialing exam within 12 months of graduation.
3. The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.
4. Of graduates who seek employment, 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
5. At least 80% of employers who respond to the employer survey agree or strongly agree that program graduates are prepared for entry-level practice.
6. At least 80% of graduates who respond to the graduate survey rate their overall preparation for professional practice in a variety of practice areas and settings as good, very good or excellent. 

Goal 2

Prepare graduates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, lifelong learning and service to the profession and community.

Objectives

1. At least 50% of the respondents to the alumni survey will indicate participation in a professional organization (e.g., Academy national, state, or district membership, dietetic practice group membership, elected or appointed office at the district, state or national levels).
2. At least 20% of respondents to the alumni survey will report participating in at least one community service activity (such as board/committee membership, volunteering, program presentation).
3. At least 30% of respondents to the alumni survey will report that they have at least initiated additional professional training or credentials, such as enrolling in an education program, obtaining a certification, or receiving state certification or licensure.
