D'Youville Dean to Wear Chef's Hat

Buffalo, New York – September 24, 2012 – Dr. Anthony Billittier IV, D'Youville's Dean of the School of Health Professions, will be a "Celebrity Chef" at the 6th annual "Men Who Cook" fundraiser for Crisis Services on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.

The event will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Golden Ballroom of the newly restored Statler Hotel in Buffalo with professional and amateur chefs from the community showcased preparing their favorite dish to share with those attending.

It's an evening of fun, food, and awareness, according to Dr. Theresa Vallone, from our Occupational Therapy Department, who serves on the Board of Directors of Crisis Services.

She encourages you to be at the event lending your support and to consider being a "Chef" at future events. "It's a great time and the proceeds help all the programs at Crisis Services," she said.

Dr. Billittier will dazzle the assembled throng with his special and secret recipe for guacamole, yes friends, guacamole. It's rumored he obtained this recipe surreptitiously from a small cantina in El Paso one very dark night and those who were lucky enough to have tasted it say "Dr. B's guacamole is to die for." Maybe not the words to say regarding a doctor's recipe but you get the idea.

The well-known physician and budding gourmet cook said, "I like to play around with cooking in my kitchen," and this is one of his specialties. (At least he will be on hand if the guacamole is too spicy for some.)

Local restaurants including the Left Bank, Ilio DiPaolo's, Auntie Rose Cookies, and Joe's Deli will be there offering samples of their specialties. Beverages from the Flying Bison Brewing Company and Premier Wine will be available.

Crisis Services provides new methods of treating and assisting people in emotional crisis through therapeutic services. They offer a 24 hour hotline, crisis counseling center, emergency outreach services, trauma response, and other services to help those in need. It is the most comprehensive crisis center in upstate New York and is now in its 44th year.
