D’Youville Dietetics Chair Honored

Buffalo, New York – March 26, 2012 –  Dr. Charlotte W. Baumgart, chair of the D'Youville Dietetics Department, received the 2012 Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award from the New York State Dietetic Association.

She was cited for "the teaching, mentoring, and leadership activities of faculty and preceptors in dietetics education programs."

Baumgart met the criteria for selection and the Association received recommendations from students promoting her for the award. The criteria included demonstrated innovative teaching skills and techniques, demonstrated mentoring as documented by letters from students, and leadership, community service, honors received, scientific and professional presentations and publications.

The award will be presented to Baumgart at the New York State Dietetic Association annual meeting May 4-5 in Albany.

A graduate of Cornell University, she joined the D'Youville faculty in 1991. She received her master's degree in nutrition from Pennsylvania State University and her doctorate in education from the State University at Buffalo.
