D’Youville Offers COVID-19 Rapid Tests to Public Starting February 11
Buffalo, New York – February 11, 2021 – The D’Youville School of Pharmacy will offer COVID-19 rapid antigen tests at the Health Professions Hub, located at 301 Connecticut St. in Buffalo, beginning February 11.
Testing will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday, for a reduced price of $39. No insurance or prescription is necessary, but individuals must register for a time at go.dyc.edu/rapid-test. Photo identification and masks are required. The pharmacy school also can coordinate on-site testing with local businesses and schools.
The Abbott BinaxNOW Rapid Ag test is a simple procedure using a nasal swab and results will be available in as little as 15 minutes. It is intended for individuals suspected of COVID-19 and can detect an active infection within the first seven days of the onset of symptoms. Tests will be performed by licensed pharmacists or by licensed pharmacy interns from the D’Youville School of Pharmacy under supervision.
Results will be emailed to individuals or can be accessed using the NAVICA app, available through the Apple Store or Google Play. The app also can be used to access approved results if needed for air travel or employment.
D’Youville has a number of free tests still available from the supplies provided by New York State during the mass screening events which took place before Thanksgiving and prior to students returning to campus in January. These tests will be reserved for a free campus-wide screening event in March for D’Youville community members traveling for spring break.
Anyone interested in scheduling on-site group testing for a group should contact Beverly Taggart at taggartb@dyc.edu.
