D'Youville Positions Itself to Meet the Needs of Healthcare, Regionally and Beyond

Buffalo, New York – June 30, 2017 – D’Youville College is proud of its graduating Class of 2017 as they embark on their careers. Over three-quarters of D'Youville grads receive a degree in the healthcare fields – finding high rates of employment right out of college, competitively generous salaries, and careers with explosive growth potential.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage of healthcare practitioners with technical occupations such as registered nurses, physicians, surgeons, and dental hygienists was $63,420 in 2016, considerably higher than the median annual wage for all other occupations of $37,040 in the same period.

The median pay in 2016 in the following healthcare occupations breaks down as follows: physician assistant $101,500; physical therapist $85,400; occupational therapist $82,000; pharmacist $122,200; chiropractor $142,256; nurse $68,450; and nurse practitioner $107,500. Excepting pharmacist, which is predicted to have slightly better than average job growth, the employment outlook in all the above fields is considered good to excellent per the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics.

In order to broaden opportunities for students interested in healthcare education, D'Youville is preparing to offer many of its programs online, eliminating geographic and other physical barriers to a top quality education.

Thinking globally, D’Youville has established partnerships with Chinese universities, attracting international students to their healthcare programs. D'Youville is currently in the process of meeting Chinese educators who have indicated an interest in nursing, dietetics, pharmacy, and chiropractic programs.
