Be a part of the conversation as we look to inspire our campus and the challenges we face.

D’Youville will be holding Presidential Salons in the coming months, gathering people in an informal setting with the intention to start a dialogue between administration, faculty, staff, and students.

Each informal Presidential Salon will have a different theme – from how can we differentiate D’Youville from other private colleges, to what can we do to invest in our institution's future, embracing innovation, diversity, veterans, and other timely important topics we face as a campus and community.

People who wish to attend must RSVP from this website and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Food and drink will be provided, the dress can be casual, and we welcome a lively, thoughtful discussion based on the topic for each Salon.

There is a “You” in D’Youville, and we look to see and hear from each and every one of you at our Presidential Salons.

What do we need to do to make the shift to meet the needs of current and future students? Pushing the Envelope: Education Innovation Soars to New Heights at D'Youville

The idiom ‘Pushing the Envelope’ comes from aviation. It is a reference to pilots testing the speed or elevation of new aircraft in order to extend the current limits of performance. Let’s think about how we can create a like environment that continually introduces new ideas and ways of thinking and then translate them into action to solve specific problems or seize new opportunities.

We’ll talk about designing the college from the goals back. What are the tools, technology, and resources we need to transform D'Youville into a culture of education innovation or an institution that pushes the envelope?

International Global Awareness:

The Overview Effect: D'Youville’s Windows to the World

The “overview effect,” is a mind shift that occurs when you are flung so far from Earth that you become awed by the fragility and unity of life on our globe. The term specifically refers to the sense of wonder, unity, transcendence, and universal camaraderie that astronauts experience upon seeing a floating far-away Earth. It’s the supernatural sense of understanding the “big picture.”

Join us in the solarium on the 16th floor of the Avant building to expand your perspectives on internationalization and global awareness and to see how expansive thinking can boost creativity, improve understanding, and help our students be more adaptive, connected, and compassionate.
